Bloggernaut: To understand and be understood -
If the only thing I were to do was read then I would find it easy to understand.
If the only thing I were to do was write then I would let imagination create numerous texts. However, I can do neither exclusively and so I become acquainted with a difficulty. The struggle to Understand and be…
New theory: There is no true understanding without love.
I’ve read the concept in a couple science fiction books (Ender’s Game and The Way of the Shadow) claiming that at the moment one knows an enemy well enough to defeat them, they love them. Then your post (Israel) got me thinking about the nature of understanding and the difficulties associated with it. What I came up with was the connection between love and understanding.
My contention is that all things (thoughts, actions, speech, etc.) are an outward expression of one’s heart. It is at the center of everything we do. Our desires, our responsibilities, our mundane actions… everything functions as an expression of our heart. It is our “self”. And the only way to align our “selves” in this world appears to be through love. We connect on some intangible level and begin to tune our hearts to the person/people we love. Our outlooks become the same. Our focus becomes the same. Excluding external agendas, there can be real understanding found there.
What do you think?

Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear. — Thomas Jefferson
